Submission Guidelines

Submissions are open!

Current theme: Found Family

Celestial Harmonies has an open submissions policy. This means that there are no sign-ups or forms to fill out prior to sending in your work. We accept and reject material on an individual basis, judging only the content that has been submitted. Everyone is welcome to submit, but we do ask everyone read our guidelines before clicking that send button.

Please look at our "About Us" section for theme info.

General Submissions

1. All submissions should be sent as an attachment in the available Google Form. If you have any trouble submitting the form, please contact us via e-mail at celestialharmonieszine@gmail.com.

2. Please write for the theme if there is one assigned for the current issue. Feel free to send us a message if you're unsure if your idea "fits." Our zine's overall brand is wholesome content. The current theme and info on "wholesome content" can be found on our "About Us" page.

3. You may submit more than one piece and you may submit them all through one Google Form. We only ask that you clearly label each piece.

4. Fanfic should be no more than 10,000 words.

a. Accepted file types: Word Document and Google Docs. Please do not send PDFs.

b. Please make sure line spacing is consistent through the document.

5. Fanart should be no larger than 2550 x 3300 pixels (8.5x11 inch ratio). What we're asking for is art that can fit on a standard sheet of paper. It can be smaller if the artist doesn't mind white space around their art, but if it's too big, we may have to size it down to make it fit, and we don't want quality being affected!

a. Preferred file type: .png. We will accept other files, but please be aware that .png is preferred for quality's sake. Please do not send PDFs.

b. Multi-page works are allowed.

6. When submitting, please include whichever usernames you'd like to be included in the zine and however you would like to be credited. Your credited name could be a username or a pen name and will appear in our TOC and on our social media accounts.

a. Your credited name will be the only name that appears on our contributor list posted on our socials so make sure it's a name your followers will recognize or a name you are comfortable being referred to.

b. Your usernames are how people may find your other works online. They are your Tumblr URLs, your AO3 pseuds, your Twitter handles, etc. They will be published in the zine as well. Please only submit relevant usernames for accounts you actively use.

7. If you feel as though your work requires a trigger warning, please include it in the form, and we will publish your work with the warning. However, please note that this an SFW zine and we look for wholesome works, and certain warnings may mean your work is immediately rejected.

8. We will not be accepting any sexually explicit works. Please do not send in works that contain graphic nudity (meaning: works that feature genitalia, depictions of or allusions to any sexual acts, etc.) and/or sex scenes. If you are uncertain if your piece is explicit, ask us! We are willing to clarify this further if-needed.

9. We request that any work submitted to this zine has not appeared anywhere else prior to submission.

a. We also request that you wait until the crossposting date to post your work on your personal accounts. You will be informed of when you may start cross-posting, and we will also ask permission to put it in an AO3 collection (though, this is optional!)

10. You do not have to be 18+ to submit as the zine is SFW and there are no group chats/Discords for contributors where things may get hairy

11. Failure to follow any of the mentioned guidelines may result in immediate rejection from the zine. Any questions can be directed to our Tumblr inbox

We will send emails out to our participants in the weeks after submissions close letting them know if their work has been accepted or rejected. A date will be set for when you can expect to hear back from us, and an announcement that e-mails have been sent will follow on our social media. Please refrain from contacting us asking if we have made our decisions before any announcements have been made.

If your work has been accepted, we would like to use parts of it as advertising! We will use quotes from your fic or crop your art to promote your piece before the launch of the full zine. You will, of course, be credited and full works will not be published by us outside of the zine! If you would prefer us to not use your work for advertising, please let us know upon acceptance, and we will honor your request.

We reserve the right to fix small grammar mistakes and typos in your work and the formatting (font type and size, spacing, etc.) so long as we do not change the meaning of your work. However, please understand that it is not our job to proofread your document for you. Works that have excessive grammar or formatting mistakes may be rejected.

Cover Art Submissions

If you are interested in having your art be the cover of our zine, please fill out our cover art submission form! We ask for a few things

1. Please make your art 2550 x 3300 pixels (8.5x11 inch ratio) so that it may be a full page OR you may make it smaller if you do not mind us placing a border around.

2. We would appreciate it if artists could include the title of the zine ("Celestial Harmonies") and the title of the issue ("The Found Family Issue") on their art.

3. Please have the art fit the theme and concept of our zine . Other than that, design what you would like! You do not need to include specific characters or couples.

4. All art submitted for our cover will have a place in the zine! While we can only put one piece on the cover, runner-ups will be featured in the zine as well.

5. The cover artist will receive an interview in the front of the zine (a chance to announce any commission info or other projects).
